It could be a variety of things, but you should see a Doctor for sure. If it were ';normal'; to have acne at 40 then you wouldn't be asking this question! ;-)

There are lots of reasons why you might still have acne but it's a sign that your body isn't working optimally, so you shouldn't just ignore it. It could be a minor hormone imbalance, this is often the case in males or females.

There are many options for treatment too but they are all under prescription so you will have to see a Dr or Dermatologist. You can buy the over-the-counter things but they are unlikely to touch proper acne, they usually are only good for small outbreaks.

If your acne is very severe then the treatments are more powerful but it's likely they'll prescribe topical lotions for you, a combination of antibiotic and hydrogen peroxide or something similar, these usually work very well on mild to moderate acne.

As for going forward to eliminate scarring, there are lots of treatments for this too, ranging up to very expensive kinds! Visit a dermatologist or see one of these new cosmetic centers, they have all kinds of laser surgery and abrasion type things which do well on acne scars.....(can be pricey though)....

Hope this helps :-)Why at 40 years old, i still have pimples and acne? and what will I do with my acne scarred face?
You could be under stress, or have a really bad skin problem,

Use lotttttttttttttttttts of makeup to cover scaring,or have plastic surgery, or just wear a paper bag over your head!
Lime juice, tomato slices, home made packs can be used for treating acne. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for pimples at

The foods that you have eaten over time and even your soaps and hair shampoos are a few factors that have contributed to the problem. Of course, the best solution is to visit a dermatologist. For a cheaper solution, try Proactive. I live by it. Everyone I know who has tried it, it has worked. In addition, if you wear makeup, try Bare Essentials. It's a safe product.
